For MCAB, we have a block of hotel rooms reserved at the Comfort Inn Ballston in Arlington. It's located at 1211 N. Glebe Road, (intersection of Glebe Rd and Washington Blvd).
There are rooms set aside for Friday and Saturday nights, February 7 & 8, 2003. The rate is $89 (plus tax) per room, per night. To make a reservation, call (703) 247-3399 and identify yourself with the "BURP" group (group # 1737) to get the $89 rate. Reserve by January 15th to get this rate. The rate includes free parking in their garage and a continental breakfast.
From the METRO
Take the Orange Line to the Ballston station. At the intersection of Fairfax Drive and Stuart Steet go north on Stuart. You will notice that the second block consists of 2 back-to-back cul-de-sacs so that cars cannot continue on N Stuart Street; however, you can! Just keep walking. At Washington Bvld turn left and go approximately 5 blocks. The Comfort Inn is in the northeast corner of the intersection of Washington Blvd and Glebe Road.
From I-66 Westbound:
Exit I-66 at Glebe Road, exit 71. At the light turn left onto Glebe Rd. At the next light, turn left onto Washington Boulevard. The Comfort Inn will be on your left at the intersection of Glebe Road and Washington Blvd.
From I-495 (Beltway)/I-66 Eastbound:
From the Beltway, take I-66 Eastbound towards Washington, DC. Exit I-66 at Glebe Road/North Fairfax Drive, exit 71. The exit ramp turns into North Fairfax Drive. Turn left on Glebe Road (first major intersection.) Continue on Glebe Road about mile until you see the Comfort Inn on the right at the intersection of Glebe Road and Washington Blvd.
From I-395 Northbound:
Exit I-395 at Glebe Road (Rte 120 North)/Marymount University (exit number 7B.) Continue on Glebe Road for approximately 3 miles. Once you pass Ballston Common Mall on the right, you are getting close. Continue on Glebe Road, crossing over Wilson Boulevard and N. Fairfax Drive. The Comfort Inn is on the right side at the intersection of Glebe Road and Washington Blvd.
The Cannon House Office Building is right across the street from the Capitol
South Metro Stop on the Orange/Blue Line.
From the Ballston station (closest to Comfort Inn) to Captiol South Metro Stop, take and stay
on, the Orange Line. About ½ hour travel time. Peak fare is $1.75 (for going
into town) and off-peak is $1.10
Once at the Cannon House Office Building, ask the attendant or security guard for directions to the Caucus Room. They are used to answering such questions and all seem to be very friendly about it.

Take the Orange Line to the Virginia Square/GMU station. Take the escalator to the street level, and turn 180 degrees to face North Fairfax Drive. The station is at the intersection of N Fairfax Drive and N Monroe Street. Cross Fairfax Drive and walk along Monroe Street. Monroe Street ends at Washington Blvd; Giant Supermarket will be on the right. At the light/crosswalk, cross over to the north side of Washington Blvd and then turn right. Walk about ½ block along Washington Blvd. and the ALP #139 will be on the left.
From the Comfort Inn to the American Legion Post:
Exit the Hotel parking lot on the Washington Blvd side (NOT the side facing the gas station.) Turn left onto Washington Blvd. Stay on Washington Boulevard until you see the Giant Supermarket on the right. The American Legion Post will be on the left across the street from Giant. There is a somewhat small parking lot at the ALP and street parking is extremely limited. You may want to consider car-pooling or alternate forms of transportation, like walking!. The Comfort Inn is only 0.8 mile from the American Legion Post #139. Walking would take about 15 minutes.

From Washington, DC
Cross over the Roosevelt Bridge; follow signs to the George Washington Parkway. Once on the parkway, exit at Spout Run (left exit). Continue through first light. Cross over Route 29 (Lee Highway). There is a shopping center on the right. Spout Run is now Kirkwood Road. Turn right onto Washington Boulevard. The ALP is on the right, about ½ block onto Washington Blvd. There is a somewhat small parking lot at the ALP and street parking is extremely limited.
From I-66 heading east
Exit I-66 at Glebe Road/North Fairfax Drive (exit 71). The exit ramp turns into North Fairfax Drive. After traveling about one mile on North Fairfax Drive, you will see the Virginia Square/GMU Metro station on the right at the intersection with Monroe Street. Turn left onto Monroe Street. Monroe Street ends after a block or so at Washington Blvd; Giant Supermarket will be on the right. Turn right onto Washington Blvd. The ALP #139 will be on the left up about ½ block.
From I-66 heading west
Exit I-66 at Glebe Road. At the light turn left onto Glebe Rd. At the next light,turn left onto Washington Boulevard (the Comfort Inn will be on your left.) Walking from Comfort Inn to Ballston Metro station (on the Orange Line):
The Ballston Metro station is 0.5 mile from the Comfort Inn. The Comfort Inn is in the northeast corner of the intersection of Washington Blvd and Glebe Road. At this intersection, use the crosswalk to cross over to the south side of Washington Blvd. Then proceed to the left along Washington Blvd 5 blocks to N. Stuart Street (the streets are in descending alphabetical order.) Turn right onto N Stuart Street. Walk 2 blocks along N Stuart Street to Fairfax Drive. You will notice that the second block consists of 2 back-to-back cul-de-sacs so that cars cannot continue on N Stuart Street; however, you can! Just keep walking. The Ballston Metro station is at the intersection of N Stuart Street and Fairfax Drive.
